Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hoai Thang - Head of Training Department, University of Technology (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City) said that the main admission method of the school in 2026 is expected to still include direct admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and the general admission method.
"Most of the targets are still for comprehensive admission, based on exam scores (academic transcript scores, high school graduation exams, competency assessment), academic achievements and literary - physical - aesthetic activities. If any, the adjustments will be technical factors such as the coefficient for calculating component scores and plus points," said Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hoai Thang.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry also plans to consider admission using the comprehensive method next year.
The component scores of the comprehensive admission method include: high school graduation exam scores, competency assessment, academic records and other outstanding achievements.
At Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, MSc. Pham Thai Son - Director of the Admissions and Communications Center said that from 2028, the school will stop considering admission based on high school transcripts, replacing them with a comprehensive capacity assessment method, combining many factors such as high school transcripts, high school graduation exam scores and even the results of the VNU-HCM competency assessment exam, in order to comprehensively assess learning capacity.
In 2026, the school plans to apply 5 admission methods, including the following forms:
Admission based on high school graduation exam results; Admission based on high school academic results of grade 10, grade 11 and grade 12; Admission based on the results of the competency assessment exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University (VNU-HCM); Direct admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; Admission based on the results of the specialized competency assessment exam of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education combined with high school academic results according to the subject combination corresponding to each major.
The University of Finance and Marketing also plans to maintain a stable admission method. In addition to direct admission, the school also considers high school graduation exam scores, academic records, Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment test scores, and V-SAT university entrance exam scores.
Previously, at the 2025 Higher Education Conference, the Ministry of Education and Training requested training institutions to promptly announce the admission methods for 2026 in October 2025.
Also at the 2025 Higher Education Conference, the Ministry of Education and Training issued survey forms to collect opinions from schools on whether to continue to review transcripts, as well as limit the number of registration wishes of candidates, instead of allowing them to be unlimited as in previous years.
