On the afternoon of September 26, the 10th term People's Council of Quang Nam province closed its 26th session, passing a Resolution on tuition support for educational institutions in the province for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school years.
According to the resolution, the subjects exempted from 100% of tuition fees are preschool children, students of public and private schools, including students at Continuing Education Centers, according to the general education program.
For private educational institutions, Quang Nam will provide support at the same level as public educational institutions according to regulations (for example, currently, Resolution 17.2024 stipulates that preschool students in urban areas pay 105,000 VND/month, and in rural areas 45,000 VND/month. The State will support this amount, the rest will be paid by parents according to the agreement with the private school).
According to the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, the budget to support tuition exemption for students of public and private schools in the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school years is more than 158 billion VND.
Notably, this tuition-free policy does not apply to foreign-invested educational institutions and public and private primary school students.
Speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Thai Viet Tuong - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Nam - explained: "Primary school students in public schools are currently exempted from tuition fees according to Decree 81/2021/ND-CP of the Government, so they are not subject to the tuition exemption policy of the People's Council of Quang Nam province.
As for private primary school students, there are no guidelines and no basis for implementing tuition exemption.
At the meeting, the People's Council of Quang Nam province also passed a Resolution amending and supplementing the regulations on support levels for eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in Quang Nam province in the period of 2023-2025, accordingly allocating an additional 50 billion VND (raising the total to 234 billion VND) to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province.
