Strengthening the system, improving quality
In the new context, the Quang Tri Education sector is synchronously implementing many tasks and solutions to fundamentally and comprehensively innovate education and training. The consistent focus is identified as improving quality, efficiency and developing human resources, considering this the foundation for sustainable socio-economic development of the locality.
In recent years, the Quang Tri Education sector has focused on reviewing and rearranging the network of schools in a streamlined manner, in accordance with practical conditions and new management models. To date, the whole province has 929 educational institutions from kindergarten to high school; 16 vocational education - continuing education centers; 6 secondary schools, 6 colleges, 1 university and 137 foreign language - IT centers.
The rearrangement of the school network not only contributes to improving management efficiency but also expands access to education for people, especially in disadvantaged areas. The scale of learners in the whole province currently reaches more than 428,900 students; a team of about 32,640 managers and teachers basically meeting professional standards, creating an important foundation for implementing new educational programs.
The 2025 - 2026 school year marks an important period when Quang Tri begins to implement the clearly defined goals of developing education in the direction of standardization, modernization, and gradual international integration.
In parallel with the arrangement of schools, the Education sector also proactively advised and proposed to remove obstacles in current regulations, in order to improve the effectiveness of education management, in line with the two-level local government model.
The teaching staff is the foundation
The results achieved in educational innovation in recent times show a clear change in quality. Teaching methods are gradually being innovated towards promoting the capacity and qualities of learners; the rate of good and excellent students, university graduates and exam winners has increased steadily over the years.
Notably, in the 2024 - 2025 school year, Quang Tri won 115 national excellent student awards, an increase of 24 awards compared to the previous year; many students won regional and international awards. This result reflects the effectiveness of the work of discovering and nurturing excellent students as well as the efforts and enthusiasm of the teaching staff.
Along with that, 10 strategic targets were set, notably the rate of public schools meeting national standards of over 80%; completing universal preschool education for children aged 3 to 5 years; completing compulsory education to junior high school; maintaining and improving the quality of illiteracy. The industry also strives for 100% of primary schools to teach 2 sessions/day, with a high school graduation rate of 98% or more.
The province's human resources for vocational education are currently guaranteed in both scale and structure. The whole province has 30 vocational training institutions with a team of 890 teachers and managers; of which more than 27% have a postgraduate degree, meeting the requirements of multi-level, multi-disciplinary training. In the 2021-2025 period, training institutions trained more than 134,000 people, the employment rate after graduation reached over 80%.
The human resources are gradually being standardized, improving digital skills and vocational skills, meeting the requirements of high-quality labor training associated with business needs in the 2026-2030 period.
Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Tri Le Thi Huong emphasized that education and training is one of the strategic breakthroughs, a key driving force for rapid and sustainable development. Realizing these goals not only contributes to improving the province's educational position but also creates a foundation for the long-term development of Quang Tri.
