Foreign Trade University (FTU) has just announced the conversion table of international foreign language certificates and international competency assessment exams in regular university admissions in 2026.
For international foreign language certificates such as IELTS, TOEFL iBT, the school divides them into 7 conversion levels, from 4.0.

However, according to the announcement, in 2026, the school will only admit candidates with IELTS 6.5 or higher (or equivalent certificates).
Candidates with IELTS 6.5 will be converted to 8.5 points in English, 7.0 equivalent to 9 points, 7.5 equivalent to 10 points and from 8.0 to 9.0 is 10 points.

Similarly, for other international foreign language certificates such as Japanese, Chinese, French, the school divides them into 5 conversion levels but only admits candidates with Japanese language certificate N3 from 130/180 points or higher from the JLPT Japanese Language Proficiency Test or Japanese language test from 220 points or higher in the Japan Study Abroad Exam (EJU).


For Chinese language certificates, the school admits candidates with HSK 4 certificates achieving 280/300 points or higher and HSKK intermediate level achieving 60/100 points or higher. For French, candidates with DELF B2 diplomas or higher are considered.
With SAT and ACT certificates, Foreign Trade University receives applications for admission of 1380/1600 and 30/36 respectively, equivalent to last year's floor score.


In 2026, Foreign Trade University will enroll 4,550 full-time university admissions (an increase of 390 admissions compared to last year) at its headquarters in Hanoi and campus 2 in Ho Chi Minh City and campus in Quang Ninh.
The school opens 10 new training majors, develops 3 training majors from existing programs and opens 1 new training program belonging to existing majors.
The school's enrollment methods for 2026 include: Direct admission; review of academic records accompanied by the school's conditions; review of high school graduation exam scores; review of competency assessment certificates, domestic thinking assessment and international competency assessment.
The 7 admission combinations used by the school this year include: A00 (math, physics, chemistry), A01 (math, physics, English), D01 (math, literature, English), D03 (math, literature, French), D04 (math, literature, Chinese), D06 (math, literature, Japanese), D07 (math, chemistry, English).
This year, Foreign Trade University abolished direct admission for candidates who won international science and technology awards, and did not consider transcripts for candidates who won national science and technology awards. However, the school will still add bonus points for these candidates from 0.5 - 3 points to the admission score.
