Regarding the lack of teachers that has caused the suspension of some subjects at schools in some mountainous districts of Thanh Hoa, on November 6, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Ta Hong Luu - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Hoa province said that the Department is currently assigning the Department of Organization and Personnel to review and count the number of teachers lacking in the districts, from which to find specific solutions for each locality.
"Regarding the shortage of teachers in Lang Chanh district, the Department assigned the Personnel Organization Department to go directly to the district to verify the details, but there are still no results yet" - Mr. Luu informed.
According to Mr. Luu, the shortage of teachers has been going on for many years. This year (school year 2024 - 2025), the number of teachers added locally has increased significantly, so the shortage has also decreased significantly.
In some localities (especially in mountainous districts), there is still a shortage, so to overcome this situation, the Department and districts have been implementing many solutions such as inter-school, inter-level teaching, and rolling teaching.
“A current difficulty is arranging financial resources to pay for teaching extra hours and classes for schools that are lacking. Because the current financial resources are only allocated according to the actual number of people at the school, there is no source to pay for teaching extra hours and classes,” Mr. Luu shared.
According to Mr. Luu, regarding long-term solutions, the Department is continuing to propose to the Provincial People's Committee and localities to recruit the number of missing teachers; ordering a number of universities to train teachers, thereby helping to increase the source of teachers for localities.
Previously, as reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, in some mountainous districts of Thanh Hoa province, there was a shortage of teachers and a lack of sources to recruit teachers. This forced some schools to temporarily suspend some subjects.
In Lang Chanh district, in the 2024-2025 school year, the locality is short of 92 teachers compared to the number assigned by the province. In primary schools alone, there is a shortage of 38 teachers. Of which, Yen Thang Primary School is short of 8 teachers; Giao Thien Primary School and Tri Nang Primary School are short of 6 teachers; Tan Phuc Primary School is short of 5 teachers.
Mr. Nguyen Van Nhan - Principal of Yen Khuong Primary School, Lang Chanh District said that according to the quota, the school was assigned 34 positions, but until now there is still a shortage of teachers in the subjects of Information Technology and English. Therefore, these subjects have had to be temporarily suspended.
Mr. Trinh Quoc Viet - Principal of Giao Thien Secondary School, Lang Chanh District said that in the 2024-2025 school year, the school had 2 teachers of Music and English transferred to other jobs, then there were no teachers to teach, so these 2 subjects had to be temporarily suspended.
According to research, the shortage of teachers is not only in Lang Chanh district but also in many mountainous districts of Thanh Hoa, causing some subjects to be temporarily suspended.
