The Department of Education and Training of Can Tho City has sent a report to the leaders of the City Party Committee and the People's Committee of Can Tho City on the preparation situation for the 2026 - 2027 school year.
Expected plan for merging public non-business units, Can Tho City has 1,153 public non-business units, expected to reduce 525 schools (45.5% rate), to 628 schools.
For the school system under the management of the People's Committees of communes and wards, from 1,045 schools, it is expected to be 534 schools.
Previously, the Department of Education and Training (GD&ĐT) of Can Tho City also issued Instructions on arranging preschool and general education institutions directly under the People's Committees of communes and wards.
The arrangement and restructuring of schools is implemented according to 2 models: a large-scale single-level school and a large-scale multi-level general education school. The model aims to improve management efficiency, strengthen the application of information technology, synchronous management on a digital platform, reduce administrative procedures, ensure students' learning rights and quality of education.
The implementation roadmap is until before August 25 to operate right from the beginning of the new school year.
Stabilizing staff and facilities
Informing Lao Dong about the preparation for the new school year 2026 - 2027, Ms. Mach Le Xuan, Principal of Ngo Quyen Primary School (Ninh Kieu ward, Can Tho city) - said that up to this point, the school has stabilized facilities, basically ensuring the necessary conditions for teaching quality.
This year, Ngo Quyen Primary School is expected to have about 300 students entering grade 1. Teachers always focus on creating comfortable psychology for all students, innovating teaching methods, improving self-learning ability and developing soft skills for students.
For Cai Khe 1 Primary School (Cai Khe ward, Can Tho city), in the 2026-2027 school year, it is expected to welcome 410 students to study. The school has proactively reviewed and fully prepared the conditions for facilities, staff, teachers, and staff and developed a teaching organization plan, ensuring that all activities take place stably right from the early days of the school year.
Regarding the arrangement and reorganization of educational institutions, Mr. Le Nguyen Chuong, Principal of Cai Khe 1 Primary School - acknowledged that this is a correct policy, contributing to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of management, rationally using resources and creating conditions for schools to develop sustainably.
