Can Tho lacks human resources in most occupational groups

LƯƠNG HẠNH |

A series of businesses in Can Tho City are in need of unskilled labor to serve production and business. Meanwhile, supply has not kept up with demand, causing the reality of "surplus work, shortage of people" to continue to prolong.

Businesses continuously recruit people

Lao Dong's records show that many businesses in Can Tho City are promoting the recruitment of unqualified workers.

In which, Aera Viet Han International Aesthetic Academy Co., Ltd. recruits 7 workers for positions of receptionist - customer care - consultant, PG marketing and technician, with salaries from 8-50 million VND/month. Bao Viet Nhan Tho Tay Do 1 Business Center recruits 50 consultants aged 18 and over, without requiring qualifications.

Giang Son Hung Thinh One Member Limited Liability Company recruits 20 workers for positions of sales staff and consultants, insurance agents with income from 5 million VND/month plus commissions, bonuses or from 7-15 million VND/month depending on the position.

Not only the service job group, the demand for general labor in the manufacturing sector is also maintained at a high level.

Mr. Nguyen Van Canh - Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union of JIA ZHI Co., Ltd. (Can Tho City) - said that the enterprise is still maintaining the recruitment of unskilled workers to compensate for personnel fluctuations and meet production needs. After the project in Soc Trang is completed, the enterprise plans to recruit about 1,000 more workers.

Demand" exceeds "supply" in most occupational groups

According to the Can Tho City Employment Service Center, in the first 6 months of 2026, the city's labor market recorded a situation of demand exceeding supply in most occupational groups. However, the local labor supply has not kept up. One of the reasons is the gap between workers' skills and the actual requirements of businesses, especially in the context of digital transformation and production modernization.

In addition, the young labor force tends to shift to large economic centers or work in Korea, Japan and some other foreign markets. Notably, although industrial production and exports of Can Tho continue to maintain growth momentum in the first half of 2026, many businesses using a large number of workers still face a prolonged shortage of human resources.

Referring to solutions, Mr. Le Quang Trung - former Deputy Director of the Department of Employment (Ministry of Home Affairs) - said that it is necessary to synchronously implement solutions from forecasting human resource needs, training to connecting labor supply and demand. According to him, it is necessary to review and classify labor groups by industry to have appropriate support policies; strengthen consulting and retraining for workers, and at the same time develop job exchanges in the direction of digitization to improve the efficiency of supply and demand connection.

Management agencies need to closely coordinate with businesses to grasp the needs of human resources in the medium and long term.
