Accordingly, a parent posted a picture of her child's lunch at Albert Einstein Inter-level School (in Thach Linh Ward, Ha Tinh City) which only had white rice, 2 pieces of stuffed tofu, 2 pieces of boiled corn and a little soup.
After posting, many people said that the meal was too small, like eating on a weight loss diet.
Mr. Nguyen Gia Viet - Principal of Albert Einstein School admitted that the meal that a parent posted on Facebook with only white rice, 2 pieces of stuffed tofu, 2 pieces of boiled corn and a little soup along with a complaint about the small amount of food was the lunch for grades 1, 2 and 3 at the school at noon on October 9.
Mr. Viet shared that he himself looked at the image of that meal and was not satisfied with both the quality and appearance.
Afterwards, the school's Board of Directors held a meeting to request the food ordering departments to clarify the quantity and price of meals in order to make reasonable adjustments.
At Albert Einstein High School, students eat 3 meals a day including breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack at the rate of 48,000 VND/student for grades 1-3; 50,000 VND/student for grades 4-5; 56,000 VND/student for grades 6-9 and 60,000 VND/student for grades 10-12.
The 9.10 lunch posted by parents on social media was for 3rd graders at the school. With daily lunches, the menu changes, and the price of meals for elementary school students is around 20,000 - 30,000 VND/child.
According to the Principal of Albert Einstein School, after the incident, the school apologized to the parents involved in the students' meals, and from October 14, it will arrange two savory dishes for students instead of one dish as before.
In addition, the school menu will be prepared 1 month in advance and parents will be asked to give their opinions to reach a consensus. After reaching a consensus, the school will finalize and announce the weekly menu for parents to easily follow.
The school will also require departments to develop menus, publicly disclose the quantities and prices of appropriate meals each week and send them to the group for parents to understand.
In the 2024-2025 school year, Albert Einstein High School has 1,918 students in grades 1-12, of which nearly 1,200 are in primary school.
