The information was announced by the Department of Education and Training (DET) of Ho Chi Minh City on the afternoon of September 11, at a socio-economic press conference.
According to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, teaching 2 sessions/day aims to implement the General Education Program in a scientific way, helping to reduce learning pressure and improve the quality of comprehensive education.
At the same time, it helps all students have the opportunity to participate in learning activities, develop talents, support disadvantaged students, thereby contributing to narrowing the quality gap between schools and areas.
Based on the school's facilities and teaching staff, the unit's leaders proactively arrange the lessons of the first and second sessions flexibly and reasonably in accordance with regulations; create conditions for students to study more gently, have time to review, practice and develop personal abilities.
Organize talent development activities (art, physical education and sports...), life skills training... to guide students to comprehensive development.
For schools that have organized 2 sessions/day, Saturday morning classes are used to organize excellent student training, supporting unsuccessful students or other educational activities according to the needs and wishes of parents and students, on a voluntary basis.
For schools that are not qualified to teach 2 sessions/day, to ensure the time to convey the content of the General Education Program, the school prioritizes arranging extracurricular activities during the week; only when they are not truly qualified will they be arranged for Saturday morning lessons.
Thus, the organization of educational activities on Saturdays is flexibly considered and considered based on the conditions of facilities, teaching staff and practical needs of each school and each locality.
The Department of Education and Training added that it will issue documents regulating school opening and closing hours for students at all levels in the 2025-2026 school year so that educational institutions have a common basis to build a timetable.
According to the Department, the education and training sector pays special attention to the psychology of students and parents, especially primary school students when they have changes in their programs, curriculum and learning methods.
"Schools publicize study plans, discuss carefully with parents to create consensus; encourage schools to organize meetings, consultations, and information sharing so that parents clearly understand educational goals, thereby feeling secure in accompanying their children and the school", informed a representative of the Department of Education and Training.
