Short-term tourism to refresh yourself
The 2026 New Year holiday lasts 4 days, from January 1st to January 4th, opening up many choices for students. Besides returning to their hometowns to reunite with their families, many young people take advantage of this time to travel, experience or implement personal plans that have been cherished for a long time.
This year, Nguyen Thi Thu Hien (4th year student, Academy of Journalism and Propaganda) chose to travel for a short trip instead of returning to her hometown to reunite with her family as every year.
Sharing with Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, Thu Hien said: "This year's New Year holiday, I will have a trip to Moc Chau". According to Hien, the trip with a group of close friends is an opportunity to refresh my energy after a stressful semester, while balancing between studying and resting.
My friends and I plan to go to Moc Chau for 3 days and 2 nights. This season's weather is very suitable for experiential nature exploration trips. Next semester, everyone will go on internships and prepare for graduation, so the time to meet is not much. Therefore, this trip is a rare time for the whole group to gather fully" - Thu Hien expressed.

Stay in the capital, enjoy the New Year's rhythm
Also enjoying holidays with friends, but instead of traveling, Nguyen Tran Lan Anh (first-year student, Hanoi Law University) chose to stay in Hanoi to feel the bustling atmosphere of the first days of the year.

For Lan Anh, the 4-day vacation is an opportunity to fully experience the rhythm of life in the capital - where Lan Anh has just been attached since becoming a freshman.
I plan to go see the countdown program on New Year's Eve with friends, then take advantage of playing and shopping at some shopping centers. I want to spend this special occasion to feel the vibrant atmosphere of Hanoi when entering the new year" - Lan Anh shared.
Although quite surprised when her daughter decided not to return to her hometown during the holidays, Lan Anh said that her parents all supported her and hoped that their daughter would have more memorable experiences. "I stayed in Hanoi for New Year's Eve, but the upcoming Lunar New Year, the school will have nearly 3 weeks off, that will be when I spend all my time with my family" - Lan Anh said.
Take advantage of working extra, accumulate for yourself
While many students choose to rest and have fun during the New Year holiday, Le Trung Hieu (3rd year student, University of Economics - Vietnam National University, Hanoi) decided to work part-time to increase his income.
According to Trung Hieu, who is from Lai Chau, the long distance makes traveling home during the holidays not really convenient. "I save up until Tet Nguyen Dan to return to my hometown, then I will have more time" - Hieu shared.

Working at a large amusement park, the salary during the holidays was tripled, from 26,000 VND to 78,000 VND/hour, becoming the motivation for Hieu to register to work during the holidays.
Normally I only work 4 hours per shift, but during Tet I registered to work 8 hours to increase my income. Although sometimes I miss home, I still find this decision suitable for myself" - Hieu confided.
Sharing about his spending plans after receiving his salary, Hieu said he would buy a camera he had long wanted, and the remaining money would be used to buy gifts to send to his family. According to Hieu, that is also a way for himself to acknowledge his efforts in his studies and work.
