Local teacher shortage, off-topic, off-area
In the 2026-2027 school year, the labor pressure of the Da Nang Education sector continues to increase as the scale of students and classes is larger than the previous year.
According to the Da Nang Department of Education and Training (GDĐT), public schools directly under the Department increased by 9,241 students, equivalent to 139 classes; schools under the People's Committees of communes and wards increased by 8,798 students, equivalent to 379 classes.
Based on the temporary assigned payroll in 2026, the Education sector and localities registered 3,175 teacher recruitment targets, including 609 preschool teachers, 1,325 primary school teachers, 1,113 secondary school teachers and 128 high school teachers.

Da Nang currently basically stabilizes the teacher/class ratio, but still lacks recruitment sources in some subjects and areas. Primary school levels have difficulty recruiting English and Informatics teachers; high school levels lack Music, Fine Arts, Experiential Activities, and Career Guidance teachers.
The situation of localized shortage is concentrated in areas with rapidly increasing mechanical population, areas with many industrial parks and mountainous communes. Meanwhile, some places have surplus teachers (according to the Department of Education and Training, in the 2025-2026 school year, Da Nang has a local surplus of 518 teachers between institutions), posing a requirement to coordinate human resources more appropriately.
More than 3,300 contracts, flexibly bringing teachers to places of scarcity
To reduce the pressure of teacher shortage, the Da Nang City People's Council has approved 3,319 professional and nghiệp vụ labor contract targets for the 2026-2027 school year. In which, units directly under the Department of Education and Training are allocated 531 targets, and communes and wards 2,788 targets.
This contract source helps schools proactively supplement human resources, without having to wait for enough staff to arrange lecturers.
In parallel with new recruitment, the city is implementing teacher mobilization and transfer, aiming to overcome the situation of surplus in some places and shortage in others; and at the same time, it can arrange teachers to teach inter-schools and inter-levels in accordance with actual needs.

According to Ms. Le Thi Bich Thuan - Director of Da Nang Department of Education and Training, in August, the sector organized teacher recruitment for 6 inter-level boarding schools in border communes. The city also recruited 22 targets according to the policy of attracting excellent graduates to supplement the team for specialized high schools.
At border schools, human resource preparation is being implemented in parallel with the completion of facilities. Six inter-level boarding schools have received and arranged management staff, teachers, and staff from the existing local resources.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Que - Principal of A Vuong Inter-level Boarding Primary and Secondary School (border commune of A Vuong) - said that in the 2026-2027 school year, the school has 122 officials and employees, of which 65 teachers directly teach, all of whom are tenured.
The arrangement and supplementation of human resources is carried out along with the preparation of facilities, helping the school stabilize its staff and ensure teaching organization right from the beginning of the school year" - Ms. Que said.
In the long term, Da Nang continues to focus on recruiting the right subjects that are still lacking, transferring staff reasonably and increasing the ability to attract and retain teachers in mountainous areas. The goal is not only to increase the number of teachers, but to bring the right people, the right expertise to the right places that are needed.
