The information was given by M.Sc. Cu Xuan Tien - Head of the Admissions and Student Affairs Department of the University of Economics and Law (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City) - on the afternoon of August 6.
According to Mr. Tien, after completing the procedures according to regulations, the school is expected to announce the benchmark scores on August 10.
In 2026, the University of Economics and Law will for the first time apply a comprehensive admission method on a scale of 100 points.
The admission score is calculated from three components including the results of the competency assessment exam of Ho Chi Minh City National University, high school graduation exam scores and three-year high school academic results, combined with bonus points for English certificates and priority points (if any).
This year, the school recorded nearly 21,000 candidates registering for admission, of which nearly 17,000 aspirations belong to the group from aspiration 1 to aspiration 3.
Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade said it will announce the benchmark scores for the first phase of admission in the afternoon of August 10. By 5 pm on August 12, the school will announce the list of officially admitted candidates after completing the common virtual filtering process.
After the first virtual filtering phase, the school expects the benchmark score according to the method of considering the results of the 2026 high school graduation exam to fluctuate from 18-23 points, about 0.5-3.5 points lower than in 2025 in many majors.
In which, the group of economics, management, finance, accounting, law and language majors are expected to have benchmark scores from 21-22.5 points. Majors in the fields of business, commerce, marketing, finance and language may approach 22.5 points.
