On August 7, Sampling Team No. 08 - Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command said that many artifacts were discovered during the sampling of martyrs' remains at Ngoc Hoi Martyrs' Cemetery.
Notably, at the tomb in block B7, row No. 3, tomb No. 5, functional forces found a plastic comb, kim tinh pen, 2 leather wallets printed with the words "Liberation Army" and some other artifacts.
Among the artifacts, there is also a 5cm diameter circular mirror, inside which is a blurred male photo (3x4cm). Over time, the photo has peeled off and faded. Functional forces believe that this may be an image of a martyr lying in the tomb.
The excavation of graves at Ngoc Hoi Martyrs' Cemetery is part of the Campaign "500 days and nights searching, gathering and identifying martyrs' remains". Currently, this cemetery has about 1,472 graves, of which 1,071 graves have not been identified, and more than 320 graves have been excavated so far.
Each artifact found is a valuable clue, opening up hope to identify the names of heroic martyrs. That is also the hope for relatives after many years of waiting to welcome them back to their names.
