The above content was shared by experts at the 2026 aspiration selection day held on July 4.
At the program, a parent shared that before the Ministry of Education and Training announced the high school graduation exam scores, the family did not think their child was capable of passing the entrance exam to a top university, so they did not register their aspirations for admission on the school's admissions system.
When the Ministry of Education and Training announced the exam scores, the family changed, wanting to register for admission to that university, but the time for registering aspirations on the university's own system had expired. Parents asked, in this case, is there still a chance of admission?
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Thao - Director of the Higher Education Department, Ministry of Education and Training affirmed that if candidates meet the input requirements of the training program, registering on the Ministry's admission portal is accurate and is the right of candidates.

Students can register on the school's own admission systems. But if they want to be admitted, they are required to register on the Ministry's system.
Candidates can change the order of nguyện vọng they have registered on the admissions system of schools" - Mr. Thao said.
However, Mr. Thao reminded candidates that for pedagogical and art blocks with exams and aptitude interviews, registration on the separate admission system of schools is related to the organization of entrance exams.

Mr. Thao gave an example, with the subject of singing aptitude. Candidates who miss the time to register their aspirations with the university and do not take the exam, when registering data on the Ministry's common admission system, there will be no aptitude test score data, and thus, even if candidates meet the conditions for high school graduation exam scores, they will not be admitted to that major.
From the perspective of higher education institutions, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Duy Hai - Head of the Admissions - Career Guidance Department of Hanoi University of Science and Technology - and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Thi Hien - Vice Rector of Foreign Trade University also said that candidates can completely register a new aspiration on the ministry's system, not necessarily only registering aspirations that have been declared on the school's admissions system.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Thi Hien, the enrollment system of schools mainly uses it to verify all information and admission conditions (foreign language certificates, competency and thinking assessment exam results,...), helping data when transferred to the ministry's system to be accurate, assessing the level of interest of candidates in that school.
However, candidates should still carefully read the admission plans of each school, because some schools may stipulate only considering aspirations that have been registered on their own system.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Foreign Trade University alone do not have this regulation" - Ms. Hien said.
Experts also remind candidates to register their aspirations in the correct order they like, and should not register in a "test" style. The system will consider from high aspirations to low aspirations and when candidates meet the conditions for admission in which aspiration, they will stop at that aspiration.
In addition, candidates need to fully declare the data used for admission consideration on the system of the Ministry of Education and Training. The system will automatically select the most beneficial method and data for admission consideration, ensuring the rights of candidates.
