At the press conference to inform about the handling plan for candidates at the Tuyen Quang Specialized High School exam site on the morning of August 5, the Ministry of Education and Training announced a consensus proposal to cancel the results of the graduation exam on June 11-12 at the Tuyen Quang Specialized High School exam site, and re-take all exam subjects at this exam site, expected on August 14-15.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Thao - Director of the Higher Education Department, Ministry of Education and Training - said that in enrollment work, it is necessary to clearly distinguish between exams and admissions. A candidate can apply from many different sources of recruitment. Among them, there are sources of recruitment from the high school graduation exam, from separate exams, or combined methods. Candidates are allowed to register for admission according to their aspirations, according to their rights.
For 328 candidates related to the incident at the Tuyen Quang Specialized High School exam site, they did not meet the minimum condition of 15 points to participate in the general admission according to regulations.
To ensure the rights of candidates, during the virtual filtering process, the Ministry of Education and Training only changed the status of this group of candidates to "not eligible to participate in general admission".
The admission records of 328 candidates including schools, majors, and aspirations are still preserved. When there are re-exam results and based on the investigation developments, eligible candidates will be considered for admission according to the registered aspirations" - Professor Nguyen Tien Thao explained.
Mr. Thao affirmed that the separation of the separate admission group does not affect the rights of more than 1 million candidates taking the exam and more than 870,000 candidates registering for university admission nationwide. 328 Tuyen Quang candidates will be separately admitted when they have re-exam results according to enrollment regulations.
Regarding the work of setting exam questions for the re-exam for students at the Tuyen Quang Specialized High School exam site, Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong acknowledged that this is a very difficult task for the question-setting board, because there will definitely be a comparison between the exam questions of phase 1 and the re-exam in terms of difficulty and ease. Therefore, the question-setting board must carefully calculate to ensure fairness for candidates.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that the highest principle is to strictly comply with regulations and ensure absolute confidentiality of exam questions, in order to create the most favorable conditions for students to show their true abilities.
To do this, the Ministry of Education and Training said that it has added exam experts to balance the difficulty of the questions between the two exam phases.
