2025 is the first year that students take the high school graduation exam under the new general education program.
According to the document guiding some contents of organizing the 2025 high school graduation exam issued by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), candidates taking the high school graduation exam under the current program will take 2 compulsory subjects: Math and Literature; 2 elective subjects in the remaining subjects.
Free students studying under the old general education program (2006) need to retake the exam and take the exam schedule according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Candidates taking the exam under the old program will take the Literature, Math, Foreign Language exam, at the same time as one of two subjects: Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and Social Sciences (History, Geography, Civic Education). Based on the number of candidates registered for the exam, the Departments of Education and Training will arrange a number of exam scores specifically for candidates.
According to the Ministry's instructions, from April 21 to 5:00 p.m. on April 28, educational institutions will organize for candidates to register for the exam and register for high school graduation consideration online.
On the afternoon of June 25, 2025, candidates completed the exam procedures and listened to the exam regulations and then took the exam on June 26-27, 2025.

The document of the Ministry of Education and Training also clearly states that the time for the Departments of Education and Training to announce the exam results is 8:00 a.m. on July 16, one day earlier than last year.
The time for considering recognition of high school graduation is no later than July 18. No later than July 22, high schools will complete the issuance of temporary graduation certificates, exam results certificates, and return transcripts and related certificates to candidates.
