With a total score of 28.75, including 10 points in Math, 10 points in English and 8.75 points in Literature, Nguyen Dang Phuc - a student of Hong Ngoc Primary and Secondary School - became the valedictorian of the 10th grade public school entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City in the 2026-2027 school year.
Sharing after knowing the results, Dang Phuc said that he was quite surprised when his name was announced in the highest position in the whole city.
The male student said that before that, he only self-assessed his paper at a good level, not thinking he would achieve the valedictorian title. Especially, in English, he only took about 30 minutes to complete the exam, then spent about 5 more minutes checking it before submitting.
That day, I did the test quite quickly. After going home to compare the answers online, I found that the answers were all correct but I was still not sure about the score because it still depended on the presentation," Dang Phuc recounted.

According to Dang Phuc, the subject that worries him more is Math. Despite the pressure before the exam, when entering the exam room, he focused on solving the questions, so he no longer felt stressed.
Regarding the learning process, Dang Phuc said that in addition to studying at school and tutoring sessions with teachers, he does not participate in extra classes at outside centers.
Studying at school until about 6-7 pm, coming home I study by myself until about 9-10 pm, the rest of the time I chat with my family or watch TV to relax," the male student shared.
Dang Phuc believes that he does not have special study secrets. He mainly adheres to the curriculum, completes all exercises and reviews according to the teacher's instructions.
According to the male student, the companionship of the family is one of the important factors to help him achieve good results. Parents always encourage and motivate him and do not create pressure about scores.
When I achieve good results, I am rewarded. If the results are not as desired, my parents will only comfort me and not scold me," Dang Phuc said.

Dang Phuc's father - Mr. Nguyen Dang Tam - said that the family is very happy and proud that their son achieved the valedictorian title in this year's 10th grade entrance exam.
To achieve today's results, it is thanks to the companionship and dedication of the teachers. The family is very happy for our child," Mr. Tam shared.
According to Mr. Tam, the family does not prioritize achievements or force their children in their studies. Right from the time of registering his aspiration, Dang Phuc expressed his desire to study mathematics and was always respected and chosen by his parents.
If you want to take the exam at any school, parents register for that school. The family does not impose it but only accompanies you," Mr. Tam said.
Mr. Tam said that what makes his family most proud is not only his academic achievements but also his son's self-discipline.
Phuc is very self-aware. Parents almost never have to mention studying. That is what makes the family happiest and proudest," Mr. Tam shared.
This year, Dang Phuc was also admitted to the specialized Math class of the High School for the Gifted and Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted. According to Mr. Tam, the family will let their child have time to consider before making a final decision.
Whichever school you choose, your family will support and accompany you," Mr. Tam said.
