The information was given by Mr. Nguyen Van Phong - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training (GDĐT) - at the training conference on high school graduation exam regulations on April 8.
According to Nguyen Van Phong, the 2025-2026 school year is special as the city operates after administrative boundaries are merged, with a population of about 14 million people and more than 2.6 million students from preschool to high school. This year's high school graduation exam has more than 130,000 12th grade students registered to take the exam.
Also according to Mr. Phong, this year, the time for organizing the 10th grade entrance exam (June 1st and 2nd) and the high school graduation exam (June 11th and 12th) is very close to each other. With a large scale, the large number of candidates taking the exam puts pressure on preparing facilities and personnel to participate in invigilation and grading.
Leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training emphasized that if not prepared early, the risk of being passive is very high, while each incident can affect 12 years of student study and the city's reputation.
Mr. Phong suggested that schools must proactively coordinate with the Department of Education and Training in calculating, supporting personnel mobilization and preparing the best mindset for the exam.
Leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training added that high school teachers may be mobilized to participate in supporting both exams. Therefore, the sector has issued a document recommending to limit teachers going abroad and returning to their hometowns during peak times, in order to ensure sufficient human resources to organize exams.
The Department's leaders requested the boards of directors of schools and centers to fully participate when mobilized, except in special cases, not to refuse for personal reasons. At the same time, it is necessary to thoroughly grasp the exam regulations to each teacher and staff, ensuring that each position clearly understands the tasks.
The high school graduation exam will take place in 2 days 11 and 12. 6. High school graduation exam candidates must take 4 exams, compulsory with Math and Literature. With 2 elective subjects, candidates choose from the subjects they have studied at school (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography, History, Economic and Legal Education, Informatics, Agricultural Technology, Industrial Technology and Foreign Languages).
The Literature exam questions are in essay format. The remaining subjects are in multiple-choice format with questions choosing the correct answer, correct and incorrect answers, and short answers.
