Mr. Nguyen Vo Dang Khoa - Deputy Head of the Department of Testing and Education Quality Accreditation, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training (GDĐT) - said the above information at the training conference on high school graduation exam regulations in 2026, on April 8.
According to Mr. Khoa, the 10th grade enrollment registration process is carried out online. Students are not required to have a level 2 VNeID account to register for the exam. In case there is no full identification code but there are data on the education sector's system, they can still participate in enrollment, ensuring the rights of learners.
Each student will be given a private account to log in, learn information about high schools and register aspirations online. The system also provides complete data about schools such as facilities, subject combinations, achievements... to help students proactively choose," Mr. Khoa said.
The enrollment process includes many steps, from synchronizing data, students registering for the exam and statistics of aspirations, adjusting aspirations, to system courses according to the schedule. After that, the Department of Education organizes exams, marks exams and announces results; followed by the announcement of benchmark scores for specialized schools, specialized classes, integrated classes, confirmation of enrollment in this category and finally admission to regular grade 10.
In registering aspirations, Mr. Khoa emphasized that candidates are only allowed to adjust aspirations within the prescribed time and are not allowed to add new types if they have not registered before.
The admission results are implemented according to the order of aspirations. Each student is only admitted to one school and cannot be changed after the results are announced.
The entrance exam to 10th grade in 2026 is expected to be held on two days, June 1st and 2nd.
Candidates registering for public 10th grade will take three compulsory subjects including: Literature, Mathematics and Foreign Language (mainly English). Students registering for specialized or integrated classes will take additional specialized or integrated subjects corresponding to their registered aspirations.
Ho Chi Minh City currently has more than 169,000 secondary school students, an increase of nearly 43,000 compared to last year, and it is expected that about 70% of students who complete the secondary school program will continue to study at public high schools. The remaining students can enter private high schools, intermediate schools or continuing education systems.
