The 2026 high school graduation exam takes place on June 11 and 12. In Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Education and Training (GDĐT) said that the preparation of facilities and equipment at exam sites is being implemented according to the requirements of the 2026 High School Graduation Exam Regulations.
Exam sites are arranged with exam rooms with a maximum of 24 candidates/room. The minimum distance between two candidates sitting next to each other horizontally is 1.2m. Each exam site must also arrange an entrance lounge, an exit lounge and an area for personal belongings of candidates at least 25m away from the exam room.
For security work, the exam paper and exam paper storage room must be equipped with separate cabinets, locked and sealed according to regulations. This area is equipped with surveillance cameras operating continuously 24/24 hours, and there are also police and security forces on duty regularly.
In the on-duty room of each exam site, a fixed telephone with an external speaker must be arranged to serve the operation. In case of force majeure that a fixed telephone cannot be arranged, the Chairman of the Exam Council is allowed to decide to use a mobile phone that does not have recording function, no memory card, no internet connection and must be sealed when not in use.
Each exam site is also equipped with a computer and a printer in the on-duty room. The computer is only connected to the internet when performing the quick report transfer to the Exam Council and must fully record the usage log according to regulations.
In 2026, Ho Chi Minh City has 142,899 candidates registered to take the high school graduation exam, of which 7,978 candidates have graduated from high school in previous years.
According to the current high school graduation exam regulations, in addition to two compulsory subjects, Mathematics and Literature, each candidate chooses two more subjects from the remaining subjects to take the exam.

According to statistics from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, this year subjects belonging to the Natural Sciences and Foreign Language groups are chosen by many candidates. Among them, Foreign Language ranks first with 65,475 registered candidates, accounting for 45.82%.
In the Natural Sciences group, Physics had 64,162 registered candidates (44.9%), Chemistry had 38,120 candidates (26.68%) and Biology had 11,046 candidates (7.73%). These are subjects with a high choice rate in this year's exam.
