The Vietnamese shooting team has registered 14 shooters to come to India to participate in the 2026 Asian Handgun and Rifle Championship from February 2nd to 14th. 1 month ago, Vietnamese shooters showed their best performance at SEA Games 33 in Thailand.
Since the above Congress, the Vietnamese shooting team has returned home and continued the professional training program, without intermittent rest. Shooting is a sport that requires continuous professional training to ensure shooters have a sense of achievement.
Therefore, the shooters in the pistol and rifle events implemented the training plan set out by the National Team's coaching staff in the past time.
When receiving the task of participating in this tournament in India, in addition to professional preparation, we require athletes to be cautious when competing and accumulate more expertise to best improve their skills," coach Tran Quoc Cuong of the Vietnamese shooting team shared.
ASIAD 20 Pressure
The key task of the Vietnamese shooting team is the ASIAD 20 competition program in September in Japan. Many important athletes such as Trinh Thu Vinh, Phi Thanh Thao, Le Thi Mong Tuyen, Pham Quang Huy, Ha Minh Thanh, Nguyen Thuy Trang... are registered to participate in the 2026 Asian Handgun and Rifle Championship.
Vietnamese shooting has won 1 Gold Medal, 1 Silver Medal and 1 Bronze Medal at ASIAD 19. The goal of achievement is placed on the shoulders of Vietnamese shooters in 2026 to defend the above results at ASIAD 20. Vietnamese shooters themselves understand that the competition between athletes at SEA Games 33 is very different from competing at ASIAD 20.
World-class shooters from many Asian countries and territories will definitely participate in ASIAD 20 to compete for the highest achievements. The Vietnamese shooting team will find suitable methods to help pressure become motivation to be ready to compete.
At ASIAD 19, shooter Pham Quang Huy said he maintained the most comfortable mentality when competing in the men's 10m air pistol event, thereby winning a Gold Medal. Currently, Quang Huy has become a familiar name to his opponents and is preparing professionally for ASIAD 20 with the mindset of the defending champion in this event.
When competing at SEA Games 33, Pham Quang Huy once shared: "I am still maintaining the most concentration for myself. The moment the scores in each shot are always separated by a split second. The experience from competing at SEA Games 33 will help me adjust more effectively to the tasks of 2026". Right at the first tournament in India soon, Quang Huy believes he will have the expected results.
