The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training requests educational institutions to strengthen ensuring school safety and traffic order and safety during the peak of the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026.

The Department of Education and Training (GDDT) of Ho Chi Minh City has just issued a document requesting educational institutions in the area to strengthen the work of ensuring school safety, traffic order and safety and urban order during the peak period of the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year and the 2026 Spring Festival.

Accordingly, educational institutions must develop Tet duty plans, strengthen protection of facilities, fire and explosion prevention, maintain environmental hygiene, and ensure a green - clean - beautiful school landscape throughout the Tet holiday.

The city's education sector requires schools to coordinate with local authorities and families in managing students; organize for students to sign commitments not to participate in social evils, not to violate regulations on firecrackers and traffic safety and order.

Parents are reminded not to hand over motorbikes and motorcycles to students when they are not old enough or do not have a driver's license as prescribed.

For officials, teachers, and staff, the Department of Education and Training requires strict compliance with traffic safety regulations, implement the slogan "Having drunk alcohol - do not drive", do not speed, overtake recklessly, do not use phones when driving; and at the same time be exemplary and do not participate in social evils.

Along with that, schools continue to strengthen education on the awareness of law compliance on traffic safety and order for students before, during and after Tet; do not encourage, do not participate in illegal racing. In case of unsafe incidents, security and order, units must promptly report to coordinate handling.

During the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026, city students will have a holiday from February 12, 2026 (ie, December 25 of the lunar calendar) to the end of February 22, 2026 (January 6 of the lunar calendar).

However, based on the 2025-2026 school year time plan, heads of educational institutions proactively develop unit education plans and can be flexible, creating conditions to adjust the Lunar New Year holiday of Binh Ngo 2026 for students but not exceeding 2 weeks (2 weeks in the Tet holiday schedule as above, including Saturday and Sunday).

The adjustment must ensure the principle of implementing 35 weeks of actual teaching, testing, and evaluation according to regulations; ensuring progress, sufficient time, quality of education and in accordance with the city's general plan framework.
