HCMC - On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2026, students in the city will have a maximum of 2 weeks off, according to the proposal of the Department of Education and Training (DET) of HCMC.

The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City has issued a document proposing to the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to give students at all levels a 2026 Lunar New Year holiday.

Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training proposed that schools let students take a day off from February 12 to February 22, 2026, that is, from December 25 to January 6. A total of 11 consecutive days off.

This option is similar to the previous plan. The new point is that principals can flexibly let students have a maximum of 14 days off (including Saturdays and Sundays) if they ensure the quality and progress of education.

Thus, if the above proposal is approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, schools can arrange for students to have a maximum of 2 weeks off for the Lunar New Year. The specific holiday time will be decided by the school's board of directors.
