On September 14, the Department of Education and Training (GDĐT) of Can Tho City issued an official dispatch on deploying proactive solutions to respond, support, and overcome the consequences caused by high tides combined with the impact of rain and storms.

The city Department of Education and Training requests leaders of educational institutions to closely monitor the developments of rain, floods, and high tides in the area; coordinate with local authorities and media agencies to promote propaganda, education, and disseminate preventive and response measures in case of sudden high tides; deploy synchronous solutions to prevent drowning, especially to ensure safety for preschool children, students, and trainees.

At the same time, raise awareness of children, students, and trainees in complying with regulations on preventing and combating injuries and drowning; continue to promote the role of teachers and medical staff in educating and propagating skills in preventing and combating injuries and drowning for students, and preventing hand, foot and mouth diseases.

In particular, it is necessary to prevent electrical leaks, remind students not to approach, not to contact the electrical system in the school and electrical poles outside the school, especially on high tide days.

Educational institutions immediately implement measures to prevent and avoid drowning; proactively develop plans to ensure safety for students during the rainy, flood, and high tide season; strengthen the organization of centralized childcare points, picking up and dropping off students and trainees to go to school during the rainy and flood season.

Units guide, remind, and recommend parents to proactively pick up and drop off children on the way from home to school and vice versa; proactively adjust the unit's teaching plan (adjust school hours, school-going hours, educational activities...) in accordance with rain and flood conditions in the area, ensuring absolute safety for students and teachers in deeply flooded areas; do not organize recreational activities, extracurricular activities and unnecessary activities during this time.

In case of rain, floods, and high tides in the area occurring complicatedly, based on the actual situation of the locality, unit and the needs of parents, heads of educational institutions flexibly choose appropriate forms of teaching organization. At the same time, report to the city Department of Education and Training, Commune and Ward People's Committees.

Units need to well implement the motto "Four on-the-spot"; strengthen inspection and review of facilities and classrooms, promptly detect and take measures to reinforce, repair, and relocate teaching equipment and tools to safe places, minimizing damage caused by rain, floods, and high tides.

According to the Can Tho City Hydrometeorological Station, the highest peak tide level measured at Can Tho Hydrological Station on the morning of September 14 at 6:30 am was 2.25m (0.25m above alarm level III). It is forecast that the peak in the afternoon at 7 pm will be 2.27m (0.27m above alarm level III).
