Hanoi National University of Education has just announced the plan to organize the 2027 SPT competency assessment exam.
Computer multiple-choice test
A prominent new point in the 2027 exam is the conversion of the multiple-choice test from doing the test on the answer sheet to performing it on a computer. Specifically, candidates will take the multiple-choice test on computer software instead of filling in the answer sheet. The exam questions are automatically distributed by the system according to the registered subject; the test time is displayed for countdown. Multiple-choice papers are automatically sent to the server when candidates submit their papers or the time is up. Each candidate is only allowed to register to participate in one exam session and choose one exam location belonging to that exam session.
According to Hanoi National University of Education, this form contributes to standardizing the organization process, reducing manual operations in receiving and processing multiple-choice exam papers and enhancing the ability to manage exam data, while creating more convenience for candidates, meeting the requirements for using exam results in university admissions.
The 2027 SPT exam is switched to computerized organization but continues to maintain the stable goal of measuring and evaluating for university admission. The content of the exams closely follows the current general education program, focusing on assessing the ability to understand and apply core knowledge and specific competencies of each subject.
This exam still maintains 12 subjects, including: Mathematics, Literature, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Informatics, Economic and Legal Education, Industrial-Oriented Technology and Agricultural-Oriented Technology, in order to meet diverse admission combinations.
Adjust exam structure, each exam session in 1 day
In terms of structure, the Literature and Mathematics exam questions of the exam continue to combine multiple-choice and essay questions. The multiple-choice part is performed on a computer; essay questions are displayed on the screen and candidates write papers on the exam paper. When candidates switch to the essay part, the multiple-choice part will be locked and cannot be edited.
According to the school, maintaining the essay part in Literature and Mathematics is aimed at continuing to assess difficult abilities that are fully measured by multiple-choice questions, such as reasoning, presentation, expression and problem solving.
For the remaining 10 exam subjects, the exam only includes multiple-choice questions and is completely implemented on the software.
Instead of 2 days as before, the exam schedule of each 2027 phase of the SPT exam is organized in 1 day, including 4 shifts; some shifts have 2 consecutive exam sessions. Hanoi National University of Education said that this arrangement helps shorten the organization time, reduce the travel and accommodation time of candidates, and still ensures the ability to choose exams suitable for the admission combination.
To date, more than 40 universities and academies have used the results of the SPT exam. The increasing number of higher education institutions using the SPT results contributes to expanding admission opportunities and increasing choices for candidates.
