Vinh Long is urgently preparing for the 2026-2027 school year, focusing on reviewing facilities, equipment and staff. According to the Department of Education and Training, the province plans to spend about 15.6 billion VND to repair schools and purchase equipment.
At Trung Vuong Secondary and High School, more than 1,200 students are preparing for the new school year. Ms. Le Thi Trang - Principal of the school - said that 72 officials and teachers all meet standards, above standards; the school advises on subject combinations for 308 10th grade students.
For Vinh Long Integrated Education Development Support Center, preparations are being implemented immediately after the end of the school year. Mr. Nguyen Hoang Phuc - Director of the Center - said that 12 classrooms have been prepared to welcome 120 children and 12 teachers.
According to Mr. Phuc, the center takes advantage of about 3,600m2 to design space suitable for children. Last school year, out of 120 children studying, 72 children were integrated, reaching 60%, showing the effectiveness of appropriate support.
Along with preparing schools and classrooms, Vinh Long is arranging the education network according to the two-level local government model. The whole province currently has 1,258 public educational institutions, aiming to focus resources, improve quality and create favorable conditions for learners.
Mr. Tran Van Tam - Director of Vinh Long Vocational Education - Continuing Education Center - said that the unit plans to recruit 1,120 students at 8 facilities, then reorganize them into 4 facilities, 4 points.
Regarding preparation work, Mr. Tam said that the Board of Directors will meet to review personnel, funding and facilities. The Center is still short of teachers for some subjects. The whole province currently has 20,661 groups and classes; the demand is 38,350 teachers, the staff is 37,548 people, and there is still a shortage of 802 teachers.
Ms. La Thi Thuy - Director of Vinh Long Department of Education and Training - said that the rate of schools meeting national standards is only about 60%, so network arrangement is necessary to focus resources. The sector will mobilize teachers, arrange inter-school teaching and professional contracts.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Muoi - Vice Chairwoman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee - requested the Education sector to review classrooms, equipment, textbooks and school safety, not to let the opening ceremony take place without sufficient essential conditions.
Ms. Muoi also requested to expedite the repair of schools and classrooms, purchase equipment, manage fees, tutoring, extra classes and care for disadvantaged students, ensuring the new school year takes place safely and conveniently.
