On August 8, the Office of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province said that the Provincial People's Committee has issued a plan to arrange public preschool, general education, continuing education, vocational education and university institutions in the area.
According to the plan, from 738 public educational institutions currently reorganized, there are 359 institutions, a reduction of 379 focal points, equivalent to 51.36%. If calculated from July 1, 2025, the number of focal points reduced is 387, equivalent to 51.88%.
Primary school level has the largest reduction, from 307 facilities to 110, a decrease of 197 focal points, equivalent to 64.17%. Preschool level from 197 facilities to 94, a decrease of 103 focal points. Secondary school level from 172 facilities to 104, a decrease of 68 focal points. High school level from 52 schools to 43, a decrease of 9 focal points.
Two continuing education centers are arranged to one; 5 specialized schools to 4. Two colleges are kept unchanged. Bac Lieu University continues to be retained and will consolidate its internal organization.
According to the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, reducing focal points does not mean that all schools and school sites subject to arrangement will stop operating. The province has chosen a large-scale single-level school model with school sites and large-scale multi-level general schools.
Basically, students are still studying at school sites. The changes mainly focus on rearranging management staff, redundant staff and regulating teachers between school sites.
Leaders of Ca Mau province requested that the arrangement do not affect students' learning rights. School sites are maintained in accordance with actual conditions, ensuring stable and convenient learning.

For some satellite school sites that do not meet the minimum material facilities standards in remote, isolated, extremely difficult areas and ethnic minority areas, the province plans to dissolve them to form boarding schools at the main school site. In case of insufficient material facilities, they will be completed for arrangement in the 2027 - 2028 school year.
The entire arrangement must be completed before August 19, 2026; the completion announcement ceremony will be held before August 25, 2026, before entering the new school year.
