The 2025 high school graduation exam is organized for two groups of candidates, corresponding to the 2018 general education program (current program) and the 2006 general education program (old program).
Therefore, there will be 2 Literature exams for 2 different programs to create favorable conditions for candidates.
All candidates take the Literature exam in the form of an essay for 120 minutes. The broadcast time is 7:30 am.
The test time starts at 6:35. The exam according to the 2006 General Education program still adheres to the knowledge that students study. The newspaper consists of 2 parts: Reading and Writing.

Candidates taking the high school graduation exam under the 2018 General Education Program will take 4 subjects, including Math, Literature (mandatory) and 2 elective subjects from the subjects: Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography, History, Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, Technology and Foreign Language (English, German, Russian, Japanese, French, Chinese, Korean). It is expected that this exam will have about 1.1 million candidates participating.
Candidates taking the high school graduation exam under the 2006 General Education Program will take 4 subjects, including Math, Literature, Foreign Language (mandatory) and 1 optional combination exam (combined natural science including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Social Science including History, Geography, Civic Education).
Professor Huynh Van Chuong - Director of the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training informed that one of the new points this year is that considering graduation recognition will increase the use of learning process assessment results to assess students' abilities in 3 school years.
In the formula for calculating graduation scores, the scores of the subjects account for 50%; the rest are the transcript scores of grades 10, 11 and 12 (50%) and priority scores if any. Compared to before, the academic transcript score increased by 20%.
