From May 12, the Hanoi Department of Construction will organize traffic to serve the construction of repairing the expansion joints and the elevated Ring Road 3 bridge surface from Thang Long Avenue to Mai Dich (phase 3).
Accordingly, during the day from 6am to 10pm, the fence of 1/2 of the elevated Ring Road 3 at 16 expansion joints needs to be repaired, vehicles move on the remaining 1/2 of the road at construction sites.
At night from 10pm to 6am the next morning, all vehicles are prohibited from traveling on the elevated Ring Road 3 from Thang Long Avenue to Mai Dich.
According to Lao Dong on the night of June 3 and early morning of June 4, many machines and workers were mobilized by the contractor to repair the expansion joints and the embankment of Ring Road 3 from Thang Long Avenue to Mai Dich.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Do Quang Thai, Deputy Director of Traffic Construction and Investment Joint Stock Company 135 said that the contractor has started to repair 16 expansion joints and 4 locations for the elevated version of Ring Road 3 bridge from Thang Long Avenue to Mai Dich (phase 3) from May 12.
After 3 weeks of implementation, for the median strip, the contractor has completed 16/16 locations of the expansion joints, completed 4/4 locations of the bridge deck repair, and is scraping and re-paving the asphalt concrete bridge deck at 4 locations.
For the railing fence, 1/16 of the expansion joints have been completed and the expansion joints at the next 2 locations are being installed.
According to Mr. Do Quang Thai, during the construction process, the contractor also encountered some difficulties and obstacles that affected the construction at the site. In which the density of vehicles participating in traffic is very high, making traffic regulation at construction sites very complicated.
In addition, the weather in the middle of May has prolonged heavy rain, in late May and early June there is strong sunshine, very high temperatures, greatly affecting the health of workers, making it difficult to organize and implement construction outside the site.
According to the Deputy Director of Traffic Construction and Investment Joint Stock Company 135, during this period, there are 4 locations of the bridge deck and 3 railing locations that need to be poured with old concrete, and steel reinforced with formwork for new pouring. After pouring concrete on the bridge deck, it is necessary to wait for concrete to ensure the intensity before installing expansion joints at those locations.
"This is also a reason why contractors cannot continuously and completely construct at some locations of the expansion joints" - Mr. Thai said.
Informing reporters further, the contractor's representative said that the construction time according to the license of the Department of Construction is until July 1, 2025.
Currently, the contractor is focusing on human resources, arranging a suitable construction time to overcome weather difficulties and striving to complete the construction by June 20, 2025, soon returning the road surface for smooth traffic.
