On December 3, the Department of Transport of Ha Nam province issued a document stating that, through understanding the situation and feedback from citizens and vehicle owners, recently there have been some fraudulent acts related to motor vehicle registration activities such as:
The vehicle owner received a call from a person claiming to be an officer of the Motor Vehicle Inspection Unit informing him that the car's inspection was about to expire and the inspection had to be renewed; the Inspection Center changed the inspection stamp to a new one, asking people to update the inspection stamp; the information declared at the Inspection Center was incorrect, and personal information needed to be provided for updating;
Pretending to be officers of the Motor Vehicle Inspection Unit, Department of Transport, Vietnam Register instructed people to only pay a certain amount of money to automatically extend the new inspection period.
However, when transferring to the account (because the amount of money required to transfer is quite small, most vehicle owners lose their vigilance and follow the instructions), the scammer can use the following tricks such as: sending a link code or QR code and asking to follow it to complete the renewal, from there they can steal other account information such as bank, Zalo;
Or suggest that the vehicle owner purchase compulsory civil liability insurance while the insurance is still valid or suggest purchasing an extended insurance term.
Based on the provisions of law on motor vehicle inspection activities, Ha Nam Department of Transport provides the following information:
Currently, there are no vehicles that are eligible for an extension of the inspection period; all administrative procedures are carried out at the Inspection Center and all service fees, charges and charges are invoiced and have valid documents according to the law; inspection officers are not allowed to suggest that vehicle owners purchase compulsory civil liability insurance. The above acts are fraudulent and violate the law and must be handled according to the law.
The Department of Transport of Ha Nam province has requested the Provincial Police to direct the Police of districts, towns, cities and functional departments to grasp information reflecting from people, vehicle owners and from relevant agencies and units to have measures to prevent and handle.
