On June 10, according to information from the Traffic Police Department (CSGT, Ministry of Public Security), in the first 5 months of 2026, the national traffic police force has synchronously implemented solutions to ensure traffic order and safety, thereby the traffic accident situation continues to be controlled and reduced in all 3 criteria compared to the same period in 2025.
The number of traffic accidents decreased by 1,414 cases (17.9%), 332 deaths (7.5%) and 1,554 injuries (29.4%).
However, analysis shows that traffic accidents related to motorbikes and mopeds still account for a very high proportion, about 83.61% of the total number of traffic accidents nationwide.
The main reason stems from the awareness of law compliance and limited traffic participation skills of a part of motorbike and moped drivers.

Faced with that situation, the Traffic Police chose Thai Nguyen province to pilot the "Safe Motorcycle and Motorbike Driving Skills Training Campaign".
The Traffic Police Department explained that this is a locality with a high rate of traffic accidents related to motorbikes and mopeds, accounting for 84.13% of traffic accidents, 80.33% of deaths and 90.45% of injuries.
The campaign not only focuses on propaganda, dissemination of laws and guidance on safe driving skills for people, but is also identified as a "retraining campaign" for motorbike and moped drivers who have been licensed for more than 3 years; in which priority is given to the age group from 30 to 50 years old and high school students, in order to improve situation handling skills and prevent traffic accidents from the root.
