On June 7, many images circulated on social networking sites in Quang Tri recording the scene of a traffic police team and people cleaning up a large amount of gravel scattered on National Highway 1, passing through Vinh Linh commune.
The photos quickly attracted attention with thousands of interactions and positive comments. Many people expressed their gratitude for the actions of functional forces when directly participating in handling traffic safety risks right on the route.
According to the Traffic Police Department of Quang Tri Provincial Police, the incident occurred at about 5:30 pm on June 1. At this time, the unit received a report about a dump truck carrying crushed stone being damaged in the rear chassis, causing large amounts of stone to fall onto the road surface.
Immediately after receiving the information, Road Traffic Police Team No. 1 sent two officers, Phan Ngoc Hung and Nguyen Van Hoang, to the scene to place warning signs, divert traffic and regulate traffic.
At the scene, a thick layer of gravel covered the road surface, posing a potential risk of accidents, especially in the late afternoon when the visibility of vehicle drivers is limited.
Realizing that waiting for specialized vehicles to handle it would take a lot of time, traffic police officers and some local people used brooms and hand tools to collect and clean the road surface.
The work lasted continuously until about 8:30 pm on the same day before being completed. After nearly 3 hours of cleaning, the road section was returned to its safe state for vehicles to circulate normally.
