On May 26, information from Road Traffic Police Team No. 2, Traffic Police Department of Dak Lak Provincial Police said that the unit had just supported bringing a man with mental illness back to the hospital for treatment after a period of absconding.
Previously, at about 2:45 am on May 25, during patrol and control at Km133+200 on National Highway 26, Traffic Police discovered a man driving a motorbike with unusual signs, so they signaled to stop the vehicle for inspection.
However, as soon as he stopped the car, this person suddenly left his motorbike in the middle of the road and ran away from the scene. Immediately after that, the Traffic Police force quickly deployed forces to search and take the man to headquarters for verification.
Through verification, the vehicle driver is Mr. M.V. K residing in Gia Lai province. Mr. K is identified as a mental patient, who escaped from the hospital in May 2025 and is in a state of loss of behavioral control due to depression.
Recognizing that Mr. K showed signs of panic and psychological instability, traffic police officers and soldiers gently encouraged and reassured him, and at the same time contacted his family to coordinate support.
After relatives arrived, the Traffic Police force and the family took Mr. K back to the hospital for continued care and treatment.
