Ban motor vehicles to protect the dike
On the afternoon of September 10, the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control of Thai Binh province issued Official Dispatch No. 88/BCH-PCTT to the People's Committees of districts and cities; Provincial Police; Department of Transport on ensuring the safety of dike works when releasing floodwaters from hydroelectric reservoirs.
According to the content of the document, the current water level at stations on the river system of Thai Binh province is very high and will continue to rise, with complicated developments; therefore, to ensure absolute safety of dike works when releasing floodwaters from hydroelectric reservoirs as well as serving the work of dike inspection and rescue, the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of Thai Binh province requests the People's Committees of districts and cities; the Provincial Police; the Department of Transport to prohibit all types of motor vehicles from traveling on the dike (except dike inspection vehicles, dike protection vehicles, vehicles performing defense, security, ambulance, and fire fighting duties).
For motor vehicles serving the work of clearing material and goods yards on river banks that obstruct flood drainage according to the content of issued telegrams, only vehicles with a total load capacity not exceeding 12 tons may be used.
Ready to evacuate people to shelter when safety is not guaranteed
On the afternoon of September 10, Mr. Nguyen Khac Than - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the PCTT&TKCN Command of Thai Binh province inspected and directed the response to floods on the left dike of Tra Ly and the left dike of Hong Ha 1 in the two districts of Dong Hung and Hung Ha.
Through on-site inspections at dike watchtowers and key points of the above-mentioned dike routes and listening to reports from the leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, leaders of localities and related units, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Binh province commended the proactive, urgent and responsible response of localities and standing forces to flood and storm; at the same time, he emphasized: Currently, floods and storms are developing rapidly, complicatedly and unpredictably, so localities in the province must strictly grasp the direction of the central government and the province in the telegrams, implement urgently, and absolutely must not be subjective or negligent.
Along with that, resolutely evacuate households outside the dike to safe places, proactively review, check, and grasp the number of households and population in vulnerable areas and areas at risk of flooding to prepare plans, arrange locations, and deploy forces to evacuate people to take shelter when safety is not guaranteed.
Warning about posting false information about dikes and floods
According to Lao Dong reporters, today, September 10, on social networking platforms, a number of accounts and closed groups in Thai Binh province posted and spread a lot of untrue, unverified information, false information, exaggerated content... about the flood situation, especially the safety of irrigation works, bridges, dykes... in the province.
Faced with this situation, authorities in Thai Binh have urgently and promptly prevented, reminded, and requested individuals and groups not to post or spread false information, information that is not true or of a false nature, causing public confusion, complicating the political security situation, order, and work to prevent, combat, and overcome the effects of storms and floods.
