On April 19, Nam Tu Liem District (Hanoi) held an inauguration ceremony and opened the extended Le Quang Dao route to the public, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
The project to build the extended Le Quang Dao road is invested by the People's Committee of Nam Tu Liem district, officially starting in February 2023. The route has a total length of 2.67km, with a total investment of about 705 billion VND.
The first point of the project at the intersection between Le Quang Dao street (the area of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and Thang Long Boulevard; The end point at the intersection with Le Trong Tan Street, adjacent to Duong Noi service land (Ha Dong district).
According to the design, the route has a scale of 6 lanes, meeting inter-regional road standards, with a design speed of 60km/h. The typical cross-section is 40m wide, the section connecting to Thang Long Avenue (about 110m long) is 100m wide.
This is expected to be a vital traffic axis connecting Nam Tu Liem district with Ha Dong and many urban areas in the West of the capital, while contributing to reducing pressure on neighboring routes such as To Huu, Le Van Luong, Le Trong Tan.
The main package construction contract has a implementation period of 810 days, expected to be completed in May 2025. However, thanks to speeding up the construction progress, the project was completed earlier than the original plan.
In particular, the section from Le Quang Dao intersection - Thang Long Avenue to Dai Mo Street (about 1.9km) was temporarily opened to traffic in January 2025, promoting clear results in reducing congestion and improving traffic.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich (32 years old, Dai Mo ward, Nam Tu Liem) said that before, to go through My Dinh, she had to go through Sa Doi road.
The road is narrow and there are many vehicles, so there are often congestion. It took Ms. Bich more than 20 minutes to get out of the traffic jam on this road to enter Thang Long Avenue to My Dinh.
After the Le Quang Dao road project was extended to open to traffic, the distance from Ms. Bich's house to the workplace on Le Duc Tho Street became closer.
"The new road is clear, it only takes about 15 minutes from my house to my office, more than 6km" said Ms. Bich.
