Accordingly, voters in Binh Thuan province expressed that through the press and media, voters learned about the North-South high-speed railway project that will be implemented.
Voters recommend that the Government carefully select reputable partners for implementation, ensuring quality and national budget.
Responding to this issue, the Ministry of Transport said that, implementing the policy of the Party and the Politburo; according to the National Master Plan for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050, the Vietnam Railway Network Plan for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050, the Ministry of Transport has carefully and thoroughly researched to select investment options and solutions to organize the implementation of the high-speed railway line on the North-South axis.
Currently, the Project is being appraised by the State Appraisal Council; submitted to the National Assembly for decision on investment policy at the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly.
Because this is a strategic project, creating a breakthrough momentum for socio-economic development, contributing to improving the country's competitiveness, with complex technical and technological standards, and particularly large investment resources, being implemented for the first time in Vietnam, the Ministry of Transport agrees with the voters' recommendation to carefully select reputable partners to implement the project.
Regarding the investment plan for the North-South high-speed railway project as follows:
High-speed railway with a design speed of 350km/h; length of about 1,541km; double track, 1,435mm gauge, electrified; total investment of about 67.34 billion USD.
The project will be submitted to the National Assembly for approval of investment policy at the 8th Session in October 2024.
Bidding to select international consultants, conducting surveys, preparing a Feasibility Study Report in 2025-2026; implementing site clearance, bidding to select contractors and starting construction at the end of 2027.
Strive to complete construction of the entire route by 2035.
