Van Thi Phuong Nhi - a third-year student at Hanoi National University of Education - said she loves backpacking and dreams of visiting every corner of Vietnam.
Nhi has experienced all types of transportation such as cars, motorbikes, ships, canoes, planes, etc. However, Nhi has only seen high-speed rail on the internet. Through clips filmed abroad, Nhi really likes this means of transportation.
“If the high-speed train comes into operation in more than 10 years, I will still be young enough to experience this unique means of transport. Myself and my friends of the same age are eagerly waiting, to satisfy our passion for checking in all over the country,” Nhi shared.
As for Mai Dinh Dong - living in Hanoi, currently a third-year student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture - confided: "Studying in Ho Chi Minh City, I can choose to work here and will travel quite a lot between the two ends of the country. Therefore, I personally wish to have a high-speed railway so that in the future it will be more convenient to travel. Just imagine more than 10 years later, going to the train station in Ho Chi Minh City in the morning, having lunch with relatives in Hanoi at noon, I feel really looking forward to it", Dong shared more.
According to Dong, he is a Gen Z who loves to travel and explore. If there is a high-speed train, it will satisfy his passion for exploring Vietnam because according to his research, the railway will pass through many large cities such as Hanoi, Hue, Da Nang, Nha Trang...
Nghiem Ha Vy - a Japanese student - said that in Japan, people can easily travel from Kyoto to Tokyo, nearly 500 km, in just about 2 hours. All trains have their own railway systems, schedules and transportation systems, which will reduce traffic jams, environmental pollution and protect health. If Vietnam completes the construction of the North-South high-speed railway, Vy thinks this will be a turning point in the country's development. And this transportation system will help Gen Z to be flexible in traveling, and have more choices about where to work.
“If the high-speed railway in Vietnam comes into operation, many of my friends who studied abroad will return home to work. Because in more than 10 years, we will still be young, working in our own homeland, occasionally traveling by high-speed train, those are wonderful experiences” - Vy happily shared.
According to the planned schedule, the North-South high-speed railway project will start construction at the end of 2027 and strive to complete the entire route by 2035.
The North-South high-speed railway is expected to start from Ngoc Hoi station (Hanoi), pass through 20 provinces and cities and end at Thu Thiem station (HCMC), directly connecting two special-class urban areas with a population of up to about 10 million people, 17 class 1 urban areas with a population of 500,000 people or more, not to mention smaller urban areas.
Along the entire route, there will be 23 passenger stations with an average distance of 50 - 70 km, 5 freight stations connected to freight hubs, serving well national defense logistics when needed.
The total investment of the project is about more than 67 billion USD, expected to use state budget capital allocated in the medium-term public investment plan. The capital allocation period is about 12 years, each year an average of about 5.6 billion USD.
