On the morning of September 8, storm No. 3 passed through Quang Ninh province, the weather cleared up. Local authorities, sectors and people are focusing on overcoming the damage caused by storm No. 3. As of this morning, Mong Cai city has had electricity restored, while other localities are still without electricity. The telecommunications network is interrupted, making communication very difficult.
Preliminary statistics show that storm No. 3 has killed 3 people and injured 157 others. Currently, the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense, with the core being the Provincial Military Command, has urgently organized a search for 46 people and brought them safely to shore. Currently, functional forces are conducting large-scale search and rescue in the Quang Ninh sea area.
Regarding assets, initial statistics from localities show that 2,083 houses had their roofs blown off; 6 water transport vehicles, 1 tourist boat, 18 fishing boats of various types sank or drifted; hundreds of electric poles and 70% of trees in urban areas in 4 localities (Cam Pha, Ha Long, Van Don, Quang Yen) were broken; over 1,000 cages and rafts for raising oysters were lost or swept away; 336 hectares of rice were collapsed and flooded. Many high-rise buildings, agency headquarters, and schools in localities were damaged.
According to statistics from Quang Ninh Electricity Company, as of 8:00 a.m. on September 8, 50/59 110kV lines were out of operation. The Company has restored 9 lines, while 50/59 lines have not been energized.
Mr. Cao Tuong Huy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province, said that the locality currently cannot have an exact figure on the damage caused by storm No. 3 because the storm affected a large area (breaking 110 KV power poles) and losing information connection.
Quang Ninh province has mobilized all sectors, localities, police, army and people to focus on cleaning up to soon stabilize people's lives.
