The Tra Khuc River downstream dam project has a total investment of 1,498 billion VND. The project implementation period is from 2018 to 2025. The project is invested by the Quang Ngai Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board.
The main item of the project is a river diversion culvert with 19 compartments, total width of nearly 720m; the bridge and combined road are nearly 1.3km long; along with a hydraulic valve gate system controlling opening and closing, fishing paths, bottom discharge, surface overflow and auxiliary items.
The project is built with the goal of raising water to create landscape, contributing to improving the environment for Quang Ngai city and surrounding areas. At the same time, the project contributes to limiting saltwater intrusion and exploiting land funds for urban development along the river.
On June 30, a representative of the investor said that to date, the Tra Khuc River downstream dam project has basically completed the traffic, irrigation, mechanical system, and electrical equipment items; and is organizing operation, trial run and synchronization of project equipment.
In the third quarter of 2026, the investor will invite the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Construction and local authorities to witness the operation, trial run, and synchronization of project equipment.
In addition, the investor will complete 100% of the remaining work items; organize the completion acceptance of the project, report on the completion acceptance work and coordinate with specialized departments to organize the completion acceptance of the project.
In the fourth quarter of 2026, the investor will hand over the project to the management and operation unit and implement project finalization.
To avoid damage to trees and crops of households and individuals and to limit the occurrence of complaints and lawsuits when organizing the operation and water storage of the Tra Khuc River downstream dam project, the investor has proposed that the People's Committees of communes and wards: Truong Quang Trong, Cam Thanh, Nghia Lo and An Phu organize a review and soon terminate the term of land lease contracts (if any).
Notice for households and individuals to proactively collect trees and crops being cultivated on alluvial land, along rivers in the upstream area of works managed by the People's Committees of communes and wards. Time to complete the collection of trees and crops before June 30, 2026.
