On November 15, Fecon Joint Stock Company and its partners proposed to Dong Nai province the idea of building a tunnel across Dong Nai River, replacing the Cat Lai Bridge to connect with Ho Chi Minh City.
According to a representative of Fecon Joint Stock Company, building a tunnel across the river instead of a bridge will limit difficulties and obstacles in site clearance, helping to minimize social impacts on residential areas living in the project planning area.
Regarding the proposed idea of building a tunnel across Dong Nai River to replace the construction of Cat Lai Bridge, representatives of Dong Nai province's departments and branches requested Fecon Joint Stock Company and its partners to conduct more research and report a detailed plan to the leaders of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee.
At the same time, it is recommended that this unit proactively work with the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to reach consensus.
In addition to the above content, Dong Nai also worked with Fecon Joint Stock Company and partners on cooperation in implementing underground traffic infrastructure projects in the area.
Dong Nai province wants Fecon Joint Stock Company to research projects and works not only invested from the state budget, but also invested from other sources.
In 2017, the Prime Minister approved the addition of the Ho Chi Minh City Transport Development Plan to 2020 and vision after 2020 at the request of the Ministry of Transport. Accordingly, it agreed to build a bridge to replace the Cat Lai ferry, located in the old District 2 (now Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) and Nhon Trach District (Dong Nai Province), across the Dong Nai River. The Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee was assigned to implement the Cat Lai Bridge project to replace the Cat Lai ferry.
Dong Nai province has also repeatedly proposed building Cat Lai bridge in 2025 to soon eliminate Cat Lai ferry.
