Hanoi Department of Construction has just announced a traffic diversion plan on many roads and overpasses to serve the renovation and upgrading of urban lighting systems in 2026. Construction is mainly carried out at night to limit the impact on people's travel.
According to the notice signed by Mr. Tran Huu Bao - Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Construction, for items under the city's urban technical infrastructure renovation plan, the construction process is required to be carried out in a rolling manner, both constructing and ensuring smooth traffic.
In Thanh Xuan, the two overpasses Lang Ha - Le Van Luong and Hoang Minh Giam - Nguyen Chanh will be reorganized for traffic to serve the construction and upgrade of the lighting system. Construction time is from 10 pm to 5 am the next morning.
The construction unit will erect mobile barriers close to the median strip, arrange signs, warning lights and traffic guidance forces at the site. Construction items are expected to last from the end of May to the end of August 2026.
On Vo Van Kiet street, the section from Thang Long bridge to National Highway 2, the upgrading of the lighting system will be implemented from May 26 to August 26, 2026. Items in the median strip area will be implemented outside peak hours, while the area adjacent to the guardrail will only be constructed at night to ensure safety for motorbikes and rudimentary vehicles.
Similarly, the Truong Sa road will also be deployed to upgrade the lighting system from May 23 to August 23, 2026. Especially in the Dong Tru overpass area, motorbike lane barriers will only be implemented at night to limit congestion during peak hours.
Hanoi Department of Construction requests construction units to be fully responsible for safety throughout the project implementation process. During holidays, Tet or when there are unexpected requests, units must restore the road surface to ensure smooth traffic.
Traffic Police and Transport Inspectors will strengthen inspections and handle violations related to barriers and construction safety. At the same time, information about construction sites will be updated in the media so that people can proactively choose suitable routes.
