Hanoi Department of Construction has just issued a notice guiding traffic diversion and organization to serve the increasing travel needs of people during the Hung Kings Commemoration Festival holiday (from April 25 - 27, 2026) and the April 30 - May 1 holiday (from April 30 - May 3, 2026).
Vehicles from Hanoi City to the southern provinces (Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa... ) can move in the following directions:
From the center of Hanoi, go to the Phap Van - Cau Gie intersection, enter the Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway.
From the center of Hanoi, follow old National Highway 1 (Giai Phong - Ngoc Hoi - National Highway 1), enter Phap Van - Cau Gie highway at Van Diem and Dai Xuyen intersections.
Follow National Highway 6 (Nguyen Trai - Tran Phu - Quang Trung axis) - Ba La intersection, go to Highway 21B - National Highway 38 to get to old National Highway 1 (Dong Van intersection) or to Vuc Vong intersection, up to Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway.
Follow National Highway 6 (Nguyen Trai - Tran Phu - Quang Trung axis), turn left into Phung Hung street - to the southern main road - turn left into provincial road 427B - to Thuong Tin station to enter Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway.
Follow National Highway 6 to Xuan Mai town, continue on Ho Chi Minh road - road 21B.
Vehicles from the southern provinces going to Hanoi City can move in the following directions:
At Liem Tuyen intersection (Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway), follow provincial road 494 - National Highway 21B - National Highway 6 (Ba La intersection, Ha Dong).
At the Vuc Vong intersection (Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway), go in 2 directions:
Turn left to National Highway 38 - National Highway 21B - National Highway 6 (Ba La intersection, Ha Dong).
Turn right to National Highway 38 - through Yen Lenh bridge - National Highway 39A - provincial road 379 - intersection with Ring Road 3 (Thanh Tri bridge).
At Van Diem intersection, turn left to National Highway 1 - Provincial Road 429 - National Highway 21B - National Highway 6 (Ba La intersection, Ha Dong).
At Thuong Tin intersection, go to provincial road 427 - Southern trunk road - Phung Hung road (Ha Dong).
Vehicles from Hanoi City to the northeastern provinces (Bac Ninh, Lang Son, Thai Nguyen... ) and vice versa can go in the following directions:
Ring Road 3 - Thanh Tri bridge - Hanoi - Bac Giang expressway.
Nhat Tan Bridge - Vo Nguyen Giap Street - National Highway 18 - Hanoi - Bac Giang Expressway.
Chuong Duong Bridge - Nguyen Van Cu - Ha Huy Tap - Ngo Gia Tu - Duong Bridge - Hanoi - Bac Giang Expressway.

Co Linh Street - Ring Road 3 intersection - Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway.
Provincial road 379 to Hung Yen, Hai Phong.
Old National Highway 5 (Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Duc Thuan) to Hai Duong.
Thanh Tri Bridge - Hanoi - Bac Giang expressway - National Highway 18.
To implement effectively, the Department of Construction requests functional units to review the traffic sign system, organize infrastructure incident handling duty, and ensure smooth road surface. Propaganda work is promoted so that people can proactively choose appropriate routes.
Hanoi City Police are requested to coordinate with the Traffic Police Department and related units to arrange forces to guide and divert traffic from afar. People's Committees of wards and communes strengthen coordination to regulate traffic in the area.
At the same time, the Vietnam Road Administration and the Departments of Construction of neighboring provinces are also requested to coordinate in providing information and organizing inter-provincial traffic diversion to reduce traffic pressure for the Capital.
Proactive early traffic diversion is expected to contribute to reducing congestion on key roads such as National Highway 1, National Highway 5, National Highway 6, National Highway 32, Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway, Hanoi - Hai Phong and Vo Nguyen Giap, Vo Van Kiet routes during peak holidays.
