During the 2026 New Year holiday, the Traffic Police force discovered a case of cycling violating alcohol concentration when strengthening inspection and handling in the Capital.
According to information from Hanoi City Police, in two days, December 31, 2025 and January 1, 2026, functional forces controlled a total of 14,328 vehicles, thereby detecting and handling 342 cases of alcohol concentration violations.
Among the violations, there was 1 violation at the ceiling level (exceeding 0.4 milligrams/liter of breath) and 1 case of cycling violating alcohol concentration. The structure of violations includes 1 case of driving a car, 329 cases of driving a motorbike and 12 cases of driving other vehicles.
Functional forces have revoked driver's licenses in 21 cases, deducted points from driver's licenses in 77 cases, with a total administrative violation fine estimated at about 2.173 billion VND.
Implementing the direction of the Board of Directors of the Traffic Police Department, the unit has coordinated with commune-level police to develop a plan, strengthen patrols and controls, and focus on handling violations that are the direct cause of traffic accidents, including alcohol concentration violations.
Throughout the 2026 New Year holiday, the Traffic Police force maintained its troop strength, organized many alcohol concentration checkpoints on key routes and areas; worked throughout the holidays with the spirit of "no forbidden zones, no exceptions", to ensure traffic order and safety and maintain peace for the people of the Capital.
