On October 17, Hanoi Transport Corporation (Transerco) reported on its production and business activities in the first 9 months of the year and key tasks for the last 3 months of 2024.
Except for a few days affected by storm No. 3, Transerco's bus operations in the first 9 months of the year were maintained in relatively stable traffic conditions. In the first 9 months of the year, it is estimated that nearly 2.6 million trips were made, equal to 90% of the same period in 2023.
Transerco's total passenger transport output tends to increase compared to the same period last year, estimated at over 170 million, accounting for over 60% of the city's total transport output.
However, the output of single-trip tickets and next month's tickets only reached 61.6% of the bidding/ordering plan.
To ensure the effectiveness of the subsidy budget, Transerco has coordinated with the Department of Transport to review the bus schedule, adjusted and reduced the service of 25 routes and branch routes and stopped the operation of 3 routes.
The total operating kilometers after adjustment will decrease by nearly 8 million kilometers/year, equivalent to a decrease of 7.5% compared to 2023. Surplus vehicles and labor are calculated in balance, ensuring stable operation of units and service quality on routes.
Transerco has adjusted the terminal point, route and distance of bus route 20A to serve the commercial operation of the elevated section of urban railway route 3 according to the decision of the Department of Transport.
Proactively review, advise, and propose the Department of Transport to adjust and expand the service routes of 3 bus routes to increase the effectiveness of subsidy costs, rationalize the routes of 5 routes to increase network connectivity and passenger convenience; adjust the charts of 39 bus routes to serve the general traffic organization of the City.
Adjust and rationalize the bus schedule, station opening and closing times and frequency of 12 routes to suit travel needs and reduce pressure on workers in operations.
Implementing the policy of the City People's Committee on piloting the application of electronic tickets, from November 2023 to present, Transerco has piloted electronic tickets on 14 bus routes (accounting for 21% of Transerco's total routes),
Coordinate with the Department of Transport and service providers to implement training courses for professional staff and service staff on these pilot routes.
In the coming time, Transerco said it will continue to coordinate the implementation of contents and tasks on piloting electronic tickets according to the program of the Department of Transport. Evaluate the results achieved, difficulties and obstacles in the pilot implementation process and propose and recommend to related units to synthesize and report to the City People's Committee according to regulations.
Notably, from November 1, 2024, the City People's Committee will increase the fares for public passenger transport by bus in the city. Relevant departments and individuals will analyze and assess the impact of the fare increase on bus operations to find appropriate response solutions.
