On January 26, Hanoi Bus Station Joint Stock Company announced its plan to serve passenger transport during the 2026 Binh Ngo Lunar New Year.
According to Mr. Pham Manh Hung - Director of Hanoi Bus Station Joint Stock Company, the Lunar New Year holiday of Binh Ngo 2026 lasts 9 days, from February 14 to February 22 (ie from December 27 of the year At Ty to January 6 of the year Binh Ngo). It is forecast that passengers will gather in large numbers before December 23 and the start of the Tet holiday, with the number of passengers passing through the station during peak hours increasing by about 300-400% compared to normal days.
Currently, vehicles are operating with a tonnage ratio of about 30-50%, basically meeting the travel needs of people. However, some routes with high demand such as Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Thai Binh, Son La, Lao Cai... may experience local congestion at different times. However, with the increased number of vehicles on the route and reserve vehicles, bus stations still have the ability to relieve all passengers during the day.
It is expected that the total number of vehicles increased during the entire peak period serving Tet is 2,450 vehicles. In which, Giap Bat Bus Station increased by about 1,110 vehicles; Gia Lam Bus Station about 320 vehicles; My Dinh Bus Station about 1,020 vehicles. In addition, adjacent bus routes with high frequency are also being operated to reduce the load on inter-provincial transport on short routes.
Accordingly, at Giap Bat Bus Station, the peak passenger volume is estimated at about 16,000 trips/day, an increase of 400% compared to normal days; the expected number of bus trips is from 850-900 trips/day, mainly concentrated in the routes of Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa.
At Gia Lam Bus Station, the highest number of passengers on peak days is about 4,000 trips/day, an increase of about 350% compared to normal days; the expected number of bus trips is about 400 trips/day, mainly on Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Bac Giang routes.
Meanwhile, My Dinh Bus Station is expected to serve about 17,000 passengers/day during peak hours, an increase of more than 350% compared to normal days; the expected number of bus trips is more than 950 trips/day, concentrated on the routes Hoa Binh, Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Dien Bien, Son La, Lai Chau, Quang Ninh, Cao Bang.
Hanoi Bus Station Joint Stock Company said that it will closely coordinate with transport units and functional forces to ensure traffic safety, regulate vehicles reasonably, and best serve the travel needs of people during the Lunar New Year.
