According to the report at the Conference summarizing the work in 2024 and implementing the work program in 2025 of the Traffic Police Department (Traffic Police, Hanoi City Police), in the past year, the Hanoi Traffic Police Department has effectively implemented the movement "All people participate in detecting and providing information reflecting violations of traffic safety and order", thereby handling 2,609 violations and imposing fines of 2.7 billion VND.
In addition, the Hanoi Traffic Police Department has implemented 2 plans of the City Police on basic general investigation, propaganda, mobilization and inspection and handling of drivers, vehicle owners, production and business establishments of self-produced and assembled 3-4-wheeled vehicles, motorbikes towing other vehicles/objects...
As a result, the traffic police handled 359,988 violations and imposed fines of VND672.3 billion. Compared to 2023, this is an increase of 58,568 cases and VND80.7 billion.
Of which, there were 74,054 cases of alcohol concentration violations (an increase of 608 cases compared to 2023); 22,065 cases of speeding violations (an increase of 11,142 cases compared to 2023); oversized, overloaded vehicles, vehicles with "extended" sides and bodies were 11,175 cases...
In the fight against crime, through inspection and control, units under the Hanoi Traffic Police Department discovered 295 cases and arrested 331 subjects. Team 141 discovered 896 cases and 1,025 subjects with signs of criminal offenses...
Advised on deploying Team 141 in disguise to patrol and arrest 3,344 vehicles and 3,476 subjects who swerved, swerved, revved their engines, and disturbed public order to handle them according to the law...
The Waterway Police force directly and jointly arrested 31 cases, 51 water vehicles, and 126 subjects involved in illegal sand mining.
In 2024, many important events took place in Hanoi. The Hanoi Traffic Police Department organized 891 groups with over 3,000 escorts and 6,000 escorts to ensure absolute safety.
Building a good image of the capital's traffic police force
Promoting the effectiveness of the achieved results, in 2025, the Capital Traffic Police force has also set out many key tasks, in which it especially emphasizes focusing on implementing on schedule Resolution No. 12 dated March 16, 2022 of the Politburo; Project No. 12/DA-BCA-C08 dated May 12, 2023 of the Ministry of Public Security.

Speaking at the conference, Major General Nguyen Hong Ky - Deputy Director of Hanoi City Police - requested the Traffic Police Department to continue to improve the effectiveness of propaganda and education on traffic safety and order; closely following the theme of Traffic Safety Year 2025: "Safe journey, creating the future", on that basis, strongly spreading the movement "All people participate in detecting and providing information reflecting violations of traffic safety and order".

Decree 168/2024/ND-CP of the Government regulating administrative sanctions for violations in the field of road traffic, deduction of points, and restoration of driving license points officially takes effect from January 1, 2025.
According to statistics in 2 days (January 1-2, 2025), Hanoi Traffic Police Department handled nearly 1,600 cases, fined nearly 4 billion VND. In which, violations focused on errors such as: Running red lights (113 cases); Going the wrong way (65 cases); Alcohol concentration (305 cases)... These are violations with much higher fines compared to Decree 100/2019.
In addition, there were 152 cases in Hanoi that had points deducted from their driving licenses - a new form of handling applied in Decree 168.
