Lam Dong - After voters' recommendations, the Ministry of Construction assigned units to review and propose adjustment plans for the "bottleneck" section on National Highway 1 through the province.

Voters in Lam Dong province proposed that the Ministry of Construction soon upgrade and adjust the Km1745 section of National Highway 1 through Tan Lap commune, which is likened to a "bottleneck" due to narrowed road surface, posing a potential risk of traffic unsafety.

The content of the petition has been forwarded by the National Assembly's Committee for Petitions and Supervision to the Ministry of Construction for consideration.

Answering voters, the Ministry of Construction said that the investment project to build a project to renovate the foundation and surface of National Highway 1, Phan Thiet - Dong Nai section, about 115km long, has been invested in BOT form and put into operation since 2015.

In the process of toll collection exploitation, the Ministry has approved project adjustments to expand the roadbed and surface of some sections, and supplement the median strip to handle black spots and potential traffic accident spots.

However, the section from Km1744+829 to Km1745+490 that voters reflected, along with some other locations within the project scope, still maintains the scale of grade III plain roadbed, roadbed width from 12 to 14m.

According to a report by the Vietnam Road Administration, the Km1745 section is currently located outside a densely populated area, the road surface is an average of 12m wide, with one lane for motorized vehicles and one lane for rudimentary vehicles arranged in each direction. The traffic sign system, paint markings and organization are still fully maintained, and the route is operating stably.

However, the Ministry of Construction said that it has recorded voters' feedback and assigned the Vietnam Road Administration to coordinate with BOT investors and localities to review the current situation and assess traffic safety assurance work on the entire route.

Based on the review results, functional agencies will continue to monitor and promptly report inadequacies to have handling solutions. At the same time, study investment plans to upgrade and expand sections of National Highway 1 that are not large enough to install median strips, including the km1745 section through Tan Lap commune, in order to enhance traffic safety on the route.
