Mr. Le Duc Tien - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province said that the province has sent a document to the Ministry of Construction and Vietnam Railway Corporation on the proposal to adjust the train schedule from Dong Ha (Quang Tri) to Dong Hoi (Quang Binh) and vice versa.
According to Mr. Tien, implementing the resolutions of the Central and the Government on the reorganization of administrative units, Quang Tri and Quang Binh provinces will merge into the new Quang Tri province and the province located in Dong Hoi city.
Currently, the whole province of Quang Tri has more than 2,600 cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers working at departments, branches, sectors and central agencies located in the area. When merging, about 1,300 people (equivalent to 50%) will regularly move between the two localities, mainly in the direction of Dong Ha - Dong Hoi. In addition, the demand for railway travel will also increase by about 400 people.
To meet this need, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province proposed to adjust the train schedule on the Dong Ha - Dong Hoi route (and vice versa) to suit administrative working hours. Specifically, in the morning from Dong Ha to Dong Hoi from about 5:45 to 6:00; in the afternoon from Dong Hoi to Dong Ha, departure time is about 6:00 p.m. - 6:15 p.m.
Along with adjusting the train schedule, Quang Tri province proposed to consider and agree in principle to study and call for investment in the construction of a new pair of railway trains operating the Dong Ha - Dong Hoi route, about 100km long under the PPP form.
Explaining the above proposal, Mr. Le Duc Tien said that Quang Tri province has had a preliminary meeting with Vietnam Railway Corporation, and it is known that there are currently tourist trains from Da Nang to Hue and vice versa. If this train goes to Dong Hoi and the train schedule is adjusted appropriately, it will serve the travel needs of people, cadres, civil servants and public employees after the merger.
