On the afternoon of January 30 (the second day of Tet), a leader of the People's Committee of Nam Van Ward (Nam Dinh City) confirmed that a tragic accident had just occurred in the ward, causing many deaths.
"The accident happened around 3 p.m. on National Highway 21B through residential group 8 (Nam Van ward). According to a quick report, the accident caused many deaths, we still have not determined how many people were in the car. The car is currently being salvaged," said the leader of Nam Van ward People's Committee.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident and identifying the victims.
The Traffic Police Department (C08) initially reported a traffic accident with particularly serious consequences: At around 3:00 p.m. on January 30, 2025, at km153+500 of National Highway 21, Nam Van Bridge, Nam Truc, Nam Dinh, a self-inflicted collision occurred due to Ms. N.T.D (born in 1964, residing in Ba Dinh District, Hanoi) driving a 7-seat car with license plate 30G-15667 in the direction of Cau Voi to Nam Dinh City, carrying her child, husband and several other people; including 2 children. As a result, 7 people died at the scene. 2 people are being treated at the hospital. The incident is being handled by Nam Dinh Provincial Police; Nam Truc District Police according to regulations. C08 has sent a working group to the scene of the incident.
