According to the plan, from January 20 to February 9, 2025, Tan Son Nhat airport will enter the peak period of passenger travel during the Lunar New Year. According to Lao Dong on the evening of January 19, the domestic departure area of Vietjet Air's lobby was crowded with passengers checking in. Many people were carrying heavy luggage and rushing to check in.
Ms. Dang Thu Tram (from Binh Dinh) said that she asked for leave early to fly home to celebrate Tet early with her family. Returning early also helped her save some money on airfare.
"This time, my ticket from Ho Chi Minh City to Quy Nhon airport is more than 3 million VND/way, and the return ticket from Quy Nhon to Ho Chi Minh City is about 4 million VND," said Ms. Tram.
At the international arrivals terminal, many families arrived early, waiting to welcome relatives returning home from abroad for Tet.
The rows of seats at the international arrivals terminal were packed, and those who arrived late had to stand. Everyone waited anxiously, many constantly checking the electronic board to see if their loved ones' flights had landed.
Ms. Ho Thi Tuyet Ngan (an international student in Australia) shared that she really looked forward to the day she could return home to celebrate Tet with her family, so she booked her ticket in April 2024.
"The whole time sitting on the plane, time seemed to pass very slowly. I couldn't sleep, just waiting for the flight to land so I could see my parents," Ms. Ngan emotionally shared.
Tan Son Nhat International Airport said that the number of passengers coming to the airport in recent days has tended to increase rapidly. In particular, during the last 2 days of the weekend, the number of passengers increased dramatically by more than 100,000/day.
On January 19, the unit operated 832 flights. Of which, 445 were departure flights (including 259 domestic flights, 156 international flights), 417 were arrival flights (including 262 domestic flights and 155 international flights). The expected number of passengers today is 122,361 people.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (Ministry of Transport), from December 23 to 29, the number of flights at Tan Son Nhat International Airport is from 820 to 900 flights/day. The highest day is 901 flights (December 24), and the lowest day is 823 flights (December 29).
The peak day's number of visitors reached nearly 150,000 (an increase of 12.7% compared to the peak day before Tet 2024).
